The Missing River

Serpent's Way is famous for several things; it's unsurpassed beauty, it's unusual history (it was the sight of a notorious murder in the 1920’s) and for the fact the waters here are so clean that if you look down into the river it's possible to see the riverbed beneath it.
Its exact source has never been found and as several locals know searching for it has always been discouraged.
However, something unexplainable happened yesterday just before sunrise. Something that could change the way we in Duwamish have looked at Serpent's Way for thousands of years.
Serpent's Way has disappeared.
Where calm clear waters once journeyed from places unknown into Duwamish Bay there is now only miles of dry riverbed. The stones in the riverbed have been polished smooth and appear to be agates. They are tinged green and blue and purple by a process no one seems to be able to explain.
Anita Moscoso, a long time resident of Duwamish was at Serpent's Way with her friend Heather Blakey. It was the two women who discovered the River had vanished.
" I thought Anita was playing tricks on me, she promised our group a day at this beautiful River for a Picnic and some of what she calls " chick time " and we get there and all we find is this dry riverbed that looked like it had been carved from marble. "
Ms. Moscoso refused to comment, as will most locals at this point. However the City Council will meet tonight to discuss what course of action we here in Duwamish should take.
ALL RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. WE WILL MEET AT THE INN AT 7:OOPM
